Pope Benedict XVI

September 5, 2010

Papa Ratzi
Blesses the children
Leans on his staff
Blesses the women
Weary with age
Blesses the men

His smile is benevolent
Oh the burdens
That great men carry
Papa Ratzi carries more
Than most men
In a lifetime

Papa Ratzi’s footsteps
Echo between marble pillars
His staff makes a sound as he walks
‘Tap’ ‘tap’ ‘tap’
At the end of long corridors
A bed promises sleep

Papa is old
Still so much to be done
Continents suffer
While wise men advise him
Papa thinks deeply
Before he speaks
